FortisAlberta 2024 Environmental Ambassador Award

A BIG THANK YOU to FortisAlberta for donating $1,000 to DAF in recognition of the Green Circle: Empowering Growth and Energy Efficiency Project! 

The grant will help purchase essential materials such as Red Wiggler worms (Eisenia fetida), an inoculated habitat to ensure a thriving ecosystem, and necessary substrates like hemp tow, shredded cardboard, and coco coir. Additionally, the funds will support the procurement of buffer/grit and biochar to enhance soil quality, along with worm blankets to maintain a suitable environment for the worms. This financial support will ensure the longevity and effectiveness of our composting initiative, allowing us to create nutrient-rich soil for our vertical gardens while engaging students in meaningful sustainability practices.
