- You will use either designated pattern
blocks or fraction circles.
- You will create a picture using the
above pieces. Rule: Your picture may not be a person or happy face.
- You will trace your pieces onto the
grid paper to form your pictures.
- You will colour your pieces in solid
colours with pencil crayons.
- You will outline your picture in black
felt pen.
- The rest of the grid paper must be
coloured in a mosaic pattern with pencil crayons (any pattern of colours in
any geometric shape).
- You will cut out the grid.
- You will estimate the total fraction
of grid paper covered by the shapes. Reduce to lowest terms.
- You will then estimate the total
fraction of grid pieces not covered by shapes. Reduce to lowest terms.
- You will then estimate the fraction of
the grid paper covered by each shape. Reduce to
lowest terms.
- You will then calculate two equivalent
fractions for each fraction in #8, 9, and 10.
- You will create and type an
interesting name for your Fraction Mosaic.
- You will type or print your estimated
fractions and calculated equivalent fractions onto a provided paper.
- You will glue your fraction mosaic,
name and fraction work onto construction paper.
